All Saints Church Tudeley
Church / Chapel
A delightful 13/14th century church, restored in the 18th century, noted for its stained glass windows by the artist, Marc Chagall. The only church in the world to have all its twelve windows decorated by the great Russian artist Marc Chagall, the windows at Tudeley were inspired by the words of Psalm 8, especially verses 4-8. The east window at Tudeley is a memorial tribute to Sarah d'Avigdor-Goldsmid who died aged just 21 in a sailing accident off Rye. Sarah's parents Sir Henry and Lady d'Avigdor-Goldsmid lived at the fine Jacobean house Somerhill near Tonbridge and now a school. The only other Chagall stained glass window in Britain is at Chichester Cathedral.
Entrance to the church is free - donations welcome. Groups by arrangement (small charge) - please phone to pre-book.
